N Charleston District 4 Updates – Oct 2019 – Councilman Ron Brinson

Repaving- Re-Striping- Signal Lights
At a special meeting last Thursday, the Finance Committee approved a $1.71 million project for repaving city streets in District 4 and District 9. City Council later voted unanimously in favor of this work to resurface and restripe major roadways which now have traffic counts exceeding 2035 projections. The District 4 streets include Patriot Boulevard and Wescott Boulevard. We are working with Dorchester County to formulate a plan for the complete rebuild of Windsor Hill Boulevard.  These projects will include restoring pedestrian crosswalks at intersections. And this work is in addition to the installation of traffic signals at the entrances to McKewn and Coosaw Preserve. This will also include some redesign of traffic lanes which should provide some measure of relief to the school-day congestion in front of the Joe Pye Elementary School. Sanders Brothers Construction Co. was the low bidder. The firm has 90 days to begin this work.
