Krispy Kreme – Ladson Road ….”soft-opening” next week.
Fully open “around February 24.”
Watch for the signs, “Hot and Ready!”
Re-Paving Projects on Patriot Boulevard and Wescott Boulevard have been delayed. We were able to arrange for night-hour operations and this requires warmer temperatures. We are also freshening plans to widen Patriot Boulevard, from Wescott Boulevard to Palmetto Commerce Parkway. I’ll keep everyone posted. There are no updates on the final connection of Weber Drive project to connect Patriot with Palmetto Commerce Parkway. This is the developer’s responsibility; and completion is subject to federal permitting and certain buildout schedules.
Our City’s Traffic TECHNICIANS continue to monitor the new lights on Patriot at the entrances to Coosaw Preserve and McKewn subdivisions. We also are asking the Dorchester District 2 folks to expedite lane widening within the Joe Pye School driveways, as specified in updated traffic plans.
The Aquatics CENTER, as we all have noticed, is rapidly nearing completion. It should be in operations by early April, including public access programs.
Damages to Decorative Street LIGHTS are being assessed and repair projects scheduled. The parts often require six-to-nine months order times. And they are costly! That smack on the decorative arm of traffic signal supports at Club Course and Patriot is a $50,000 repair project. Luckily in this case, the driver of the vehicle causing the damage was identified and insurance will cover most of the costs.
Speed Humps/BUMPS are on order for Paddock Pointe and two locations in Wescott (Master).
PRIME North Charleston: The project to update our city’s comprehensive plan. This exercise is prescribed at the end of each decade. A series of neighborhood meetings and discussion forums have evolved into a period of review and finalization. Now there are opportunities to review the proposed final planning concepts and to attend community briefings. Website links for progress summaries, proposals and a meeting schedule are appended. The Wednesday, February 19, meeting at Wescott Park community center will be a walk-around forum during which you can discuss your ideas and proposals with members of both the city’s planning team and representatives of the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments. That two-hour session begins at 5 p.m.
